Overview
The website of Design in Practice, an event dedicated to the dialogue between art and design, was revamped to improve content management and user experience. The project included a switch from static HTML to WordPress and the implementation of features such as dark mode and multilingual support.
Objective
The main objective was to transform the existing website, originally developed in static HTML, into a WordPress-based content management system (CMS). This transition aimed to make it easier to update content, implement a dark mode to improve the user experience, support multilingual functionality to reach a wider audience, and provide an effective platform to share information about events and participants.
Process
The process began with an in-depth analysis of the existing site and the specific requirements of the project. Content was migrated from HTML to WordPress, creating a customised theme that reflected Design in Practice's visual identity. Advanced features were integrated, including dark mode and multi-language support.
Result
The new website offers greatly simplified content management, allowing the team to easily update information on events and participants. The dark mode and multilingual support improved accessibility and user experience, while the platform for sharing event information facilitated interaction with the public. These enhancements helped strengthen Design in Practice's online presence, effectively supporting their mission to promote virtuous design practices.
Tools used:
WordPress, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, multilingual plugin and dark mode.
